An Appraisal at the Auction House

Wing Night: $0.35/wing Mon and Thu from 4:00 - 10:00 PM

After about five years and countless wing and beer outings I am happy to say that the 100th review has finally arrived!  A few of us ended up at the Auction House for the cause back in November and it was a successful evening.  This took a bit to post but I’ll get to that later.

The Auction House is a very nice pub on Argyle St. with a great atmosphere and they also brew their own beer.  As the name implies, they do auctions on food every once in a while and all the proceeds go to a charity, which is really nice to see.  I’m not so sure when the auctions take place but I haven’t been fortunate enough to take part in one on my last three visits.

I was here a couple of times before wings were an option and the food was delicious so I had some high expectations for the wing visit.  Besides the wings some other items on the menu really caught my eye like the chicken & waffle bites and the bacon & jalapeno cheddar dip.  Wings are only served on Monday and Thursday so I have a pretty good idea what to order if I visit on a non-wing day.

Wings are $0.35/wing on Monday and Thursday from 4:00 – 10:00 PM, and I believe this is the cheapest wing deal around right now, they are definitely worth a try!

A little bit of a background on this review before I continue – I went to the Auction House to do the 100th review on a Monday back in November.  They were delicious so I went back a few days later (before the review was complete) and my experience was totally different so I wasn’t sure what to do with the review at that point.  I ended up deciding to go back for a third time (yes, it took a while) to see if they were more aligned to the first or second visit, and I am glad I made that visit.

Breading: n/a – Not breaded but lightly dusted.

Overall Quality: 4/5 – The wings had a nice crisp exterior, were cooked well and had a decent flavor however I found them to be a tad on the greasy side.
Delicious crispy wings

Sauce Selection:
3/5 – Mild, Medium, Hot, Suicide, Honey Garlic, Sweet Chili and BBQ are your options.  This is a fairly standard sauce selection and I think it would be really nice to see some sort of house signature type sauce here.

Service: 4/5 – The place was packed when we arrived around 7:00 however our server was quick to greet us and take some drink orders.  The drinks took some time to arrive and it also ended up being about a 30 minute wait for the wings.  Our server was really nice though and did make her way back a few times to check up and offer some much needed beverage refills.

Size: 4/5 – Overall the flats and drumsticks were quite plump, but not the largest I have ever seen.
Fairly plump

Overall Rating:
3.75/5

If you find yourself wandering around downtown on a Monday or Thursday evening I would highly recommend taking a swing by the Auction House for some delicious cheap wings, I’m confident this won’t be a decision you will regret.

  1. Just started reading the blog; great stuff! My friends and I are using this as a new guide to try some new wing nights.
This place is next! Maybe trying the burger deal too.
