*** Another review has since taken place - check it out here ***

I've visited Tempo in the past for brunch which was pretty good so after seeing they had a Drunken Sriracha ' wing sauce I figured it was about time to head back and finally try the wings, I love Sriracha.

I headed over on Thursday (7/17/14) and had a seat at the bar.  I took a look at the menu and the description for the wings is 'natural', I assume this means free range or something, but not overly descriptive.  Wings come in on the pricey side at $11 for a half pound or $17 for a full pound, which is what I went for.

Breading: n/a - Not breaded so this category will not be rated.
Tempo wings
Overall Quality: 1/5 - These wings didn't have a good flavor at all, contained a lot of dark meat (which is surprising based on their size) and even managed to contain a few sporadic feathers. This is not at all what I was expecting from this place.
Not the best looking wings
A lot of dark meat for a small wing
Sauce Selection: 1/5 – You have three sauces to choose from - Sweet and Salty, Dr. Pepper BBQ or Drunken Sriracha.  The main reason I stopped by was to try that Sriracha sauce, and it was warm Sriracha, I really couldn’t tell if there was anything else different with it, but it was still good.

Service: 5/5 – This was by far the best part of this experience.  I sat at the bar my drink order was taken and a menu was provided right away.  I was fortunate enough to be served by Lorne, he’s awesome.

I received the wings and was a bit surprised, they really didn’t look good at all.  I dug into a couple and when he asked how they were I told him I didn’t really care for them, he said he’d take them off the bill and asked if there was anything else I would like, that was a great gesture but I didn’t feel like anything else to eat for now, so drink refills were offered and accepted.

I ended up hanging around for a couple of drinks and we talked for a bit, you can tell this guy really enjoys what he does, this was the best service I’ve had anywhere in a long time.

Size: 1/5 - You don't frequently find wings this small, there was barely any meat on the flatties or the drumsticks, if this is what a natural wing is I think these chickens need to be pumped up a bit.  I’m glad they don’t sell them by the wing.
Not much meat to these
Overall Rating:  2/5

Even though I would not go back to Tempo for wings I know I will be back to try some other items on the menu purely based on the service alone.  Plus a couple beside me had the nachos, and they looked delicious.  Has anyone tried the wings here before? Not sure if I was there on an off night or if this is how ‘natural’ wings are.

  2. The flatiron steak there is awesome. It is very tender and flavourful. I've had the wings there a few times. Some cooks seem to make them better than others there. I wouldn't go there just for the wings, but I enjoy the Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, and non breaded wings is a nice change for an app once in a while. I've had them dried out and overcooked, and had them done nicely there also.
