Massive at Montes

I ended up at Montes a little while ago for some wings.  I’ve never been to this place before but I will be sure to go back for wings again one of these days.

Wings are offered breaded and non breaded and are regularly $9.00 or $4.50 on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s.  They also have half price apps on Thursday’s from 5:30 – 8:00 PM.

Breading: 4/5 – The wings had a nice thick coat of golden breading to them, just how I like them.  There wasn't much flavour to the breading though, I think a few spices mixed in would have really been nice.
Some good lookin wings.

Overall quality: 4/5 – I’m always worried when I see wings advertised as jumbo due to previous experiences with really dark meat, however I was quite impressed that these wings consisted of white meat and had an excellent taste to them.  I found some of the wings seemed to hold on to a fair amount of grease though and some of the meat was a bit tough to get off.

Sauce selection: 3/5 – Your choices of sauce include mild, medium, hot, extra hot, sweet chili, BBQ, ranch and honey garlic.  I went with the hot on the side however I didn’t find it hot at all.  I also found the sauce dipping container to be a tad on the small side, or maybe that was just due to the size of the wings.

Service: 3/5 – We were greeted fairly quickly and had menus were handed out.  Once the orders were placed the food took a reasonable time to arrive.  No drink refills were offered throughout the course of the meal though, that is one of my pet peeves.

Size: 5/5 – These wings were definitely Jumbo as advertised.
A fat drumstick.
Overall rating: 3.8/5

Based on their website this place seems to be a pretty good venue for live shows.  Maybe I'll stay to experience one with a few drinks upon my next wing visit.
