Rating: 4.6/5

** Prices up to date as of 10/20/2015 **

After attending the @WagJagHalifax Party on Saturday (which was awesome by the way) we decided to continue the party at the Alehouse.  The sign outside the entrance advertising 10 wings and a pitcher of beer for $11.50 was a great influence to that decision.

Wing nights are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 4:30 PM til 10:00 PM.  You’ll be paying $10.99 (for 10 wings I believe) if you don’t show up on a wing night.  That’s a little pricey but it’s one of the few places I wouldn’t mind paying the full price.

Breading: 5/5 – Excellent evenly coated golden crispy breading, perfection!
Now those are picture perfect wings.

Overall Quality: 5/5 – The chicken was cooked, no dark spots, nice and moist with a delicious fresh taste.

Sauce selection: 4/5 – Sauces included mild, medium, hot, suicide, honey garlic, BBQ, sweet Chili heat, Teriyaki, salt & pepper, blue cheese and ranch.  I had the hot and sweet Chili heat on the side, the sweet Chili heat had a nice flavor and a good kick to it.

Service: 5/5 – Our waitress was really nice and the wings didn’t take long to arrive.

Size: 4/5 – The wings were a bit above your average sized wing.  Unable to give full points here since there are bigger wings out there (but a bigger wing doesn't necessarily mean it's a better wing).

Overall rating:  4.6/5

I’m a bit disappointed that it took me this long to try the wings here, I was really starting to lose hope on being able to find more good wings in Halifax, I’m glad I was proven wrong this time.  The Alehouse is now in my top three places for best wings in Halifax, and I can’t wait to go back.

  1. Wing nights at Alehouse are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 4:30pm to 10pm. If Saturday was over at 4:30pm that would be a tragedy because we frequent there a lot on Saturday nights for a good time and good wings!

  2. Thanks for the correction on that, 4:30 to 10:00 PM is much better. Info has been updated.

  3. the wings at the alehouse have taken a dive. they used to be as pictured and described above. now they are small, containing little meat, which is often dark or with brown spots, lots of veins tendons and gristle and even broken bones are common. I live down the st and used to be there twice a week or more for the beer and wings but now i rarely go at all.

  4. Can you re-evaluate the Alehouse. The wings have changed and I think it needs to be pointed out the changes are poor.

  6. In the past few weeks my girlfriend and I have been to Alehouse for wings/pitcher several times and I find them to be very good, size, flavour and temperature... service is also good... It's packed on Wednesdays so that speaks for itself... keep it up HA

  7. Sept 30, 2015 - well out for wings tonight again at HA. The wings here are my top choice for the city, consistently good. The service is 4.5/5. I would rate them overall a strong 4.6/5 as does wingman! Thanks wingman, good resource, too bad it's not up to date and more comments.

    1. Hey, nice to hear you like Alehouse wings too, that place is awesome. The hiatus is over, I'm going to do my best to keep it all up to date a bit more. Feel free to let me know of any price adjustments on your travels. Thanks.

  8. The Alehouse is my personal favorite place to grab a lb. at lunch, or after work. I usually pay full price as I'm at work through the day time, and it's worth every penny. The sauces are all amazing, (I usually have hot or suicide). I find the breading has a nice subtle hint of sesame oil, which I've started using at home to mimick these fantastic wings. Always my fav... see you soon! Grant

    1. Yes, I don't mind paying full price any day for wings of that quality. I'm sure I'll see you around sometime.

  9. As a quick note this review is super old however I have been to the Alehouse countless times for wings since this was posted. They are still one of my favorite spots around and the only thing that has changed is a couple minor price increases.
