mini Michael's

I was hoping to kick this year off on a better "wing" however, we're not off to a good start start with our visit to Michael's Bar & Grill on Thursday.  I noticed when I walked in that this place seemed fairly empty for a wing night, I generally believe a fairly large crowd on wing nights is a good sign, but I've been proven wrong on that before (see review on Jacob's)

The wings here are breaded and they just have your standard wing sauce selection (I enjoy a bit more sauce variety to choose from).  I ordered 10 with medium sauce on the side waiting with anticipation for the first wings of 2011.
This pic really doesn't do justice, objects in image are smaller than they appear

The wings arrived and were puny!  This was possibly the smallest batch of wings I have ever seen, I couldn't believe it.  They were cooked fairly crispy and actually had a nice fresh flavor to them, but there was barely a bite of chicken per wing, I was a bit disappointed and my hunger satisfaction was not met (usually at the 10 wing mark I'm starting to get full, but not this time).  If these were normal sized wings I would have been much happier.

I have to rate these wings a 2.25 out of 5, they were really just too small, especially for $0.40/wing.  I won't be going back here for a wing night anytime soon.
Really small wings, but once again, the pic makes them look larger than what they really are

It can only get better from here?  Hopefully anyway, this blog adventure I started is really giving me a whole new appreciation on wings.

  1. Just to let you know, I've been at Michael's for wings for the past two thursdays and they might be worth revisiting. The new deal is 30 cents per wing from 4-10pm with a drink purchase, and it seemed like the size was a lot better and they were tasty. Service is pretty good and there are about 6 or 7 sauces to pick from.

Although the first week I went, there weren't breaded (or very thinly breaded) and the second week there was a thicker breading. Not sure why the change but both were good.

Also if you're in the bar by 8 or so you can stay in see the bands that play later without paying cover..
