Super Wings!

So I was at Superstore the other day getting some food and noticed they had “President's Choice crisp and crunchy Spicy Southern-Style Chicken Wings” (frozen) on sale, excellent opportunity to try new wings of course, even though my cook-from-home wing experiences haven’t been too pleasant so far (see two reviews below), I threw them in the cart and continued on my way.
The pics on the box are a good representation

It was approximately a two pound box for $11 and contained twenty wings (I got two bonus wings, the box clearly states 18 minimum, so that’s cool), works out to be $0.55/wing, for some odd reason it seems that wings you have to cook yourself are more expensive than wings at a pub where they cook them for you, one of those great mysteries of life I guess.

I ended up pre heating the oven as usual, and at the same time wishing I had a deep fryer based on my previous cook from home wing adventures.  This is my third time making wings at home since I started this blog, and this has been the best experience so far.  These wings looked great even from frozen, breaded nicely and no sauce smothered on the exterior, the oven does not enjoy cooking wings with sauce already on (pics from those blogs below clearly show that).
They look good already
Once the cooking time elapsed and I took the wings out I was already impressed, they looked amazing!  I enjoy my wings on the spicy side, and if you notice on the box there is a little picture of three chili’s which indicates they are supposed to be spicy, it was an accurate indicator.  I didn’t have any sauce , the wings didn’t them, they were delicious!  A nice crispy, spicy breaded layer and then into the tender chicken, I couldn’t believe I bought these wings at a grocery store, I’ve had way worse wings at restaurants.
I could only wish most pubs had wings this good
I have to rate these wings a 4.75 out of 5, the spicy breading has a good weight in this rating, I wish more wings had that option.    I already can’t wait to go back to Superstore to get more.

  1. After your run in with Village Buffalo chicken wings, I was going to recommend these. Thanks for the review.

  2. Good to know. I always consider frozen stuff to just be kinda meh, but I will pick up a box next time I'm at Super Store and give it a try.

  4. I very much enjoy the mild breaded Superstore wings. I mix a dipping sauce with sour cream and Pad Thai bottled sauce to give a bit more zip.

  5. Good call on Superstore wings. Try the "Just Sauce and Serve Golden Mustard Bargecue". Especially good if you like sauce on the side like we do.
